ALEEN THOMAS DUCKWORTH

Aleen Thomas Duckworth, 87, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her home in Magna, Utah.  Aleen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Duckworth, 19 years ago.  She is the last member of her family to pass away.  She is the daughter of Thomas and Ruby Josephine Thomas and sister to Lyle Sadler, Ruby, Tom and Alva Thomas.  Mom treasured and loved her memories of her family and their days on the farm.  Our dear mother and grandmother Aleen was greatly loved by all her seven children, 13 grand-children, and 15 great-grand children.  She is survived by her children:  Craig (Janet) Duckworth, Diane (Greg) Maxwell, Marilyn (Tim) Peel, Susan (Robert) Day, Jerry Duckworth, Sharon (Paul) Turner, and Mark (Peggy) Duckworth.  Mom greatly loved her old Cyprus High School days and enjoyed performing in the Drum and Bugle Corps.  She had so many dear classmates and relished the fun memoires of them.  During World War II, she was chosen as the 1945 Salt Lake County War Bond Queen.  Her children and grandchildren affectionately called her "Aleen, Aleen , the War Bond Queen," and "Grandma Duck".  Mom loved her faith, her family, her children, her grandchildren, her friends and her community.  The Spencer First Ward was her home, where she served faithfully in various callings and valued the families that made such a wonderful neighborhood.  We would like to express our deepest gratitude and thanks to the nurses and aides that helped our sweet Mother over the last years of her life:  Lighthouse Hospice, Anna Beth, Lorraine, Nikki and Beverly.  The memories of your service and love will rest warmly in our hearts and will be greatly treasured by all of us.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 S. 8400 W.  Friends and family may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., and Wednesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.  Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.  Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
