Alexis Michelle Stafford was born on August 15, 2000. Lexi was the oldest child of Kris and Emily Gould. She was a proud big sister to her younger brother Cam, who she regularly referred to as “twin” and her younger sisters Liv and Leah, whom she adored with her whole being.
Lexi went about her life doing good. People were constantly drawn to Lexi because of the love they felt from her. Her love was tangible and is already greatly missed. Lexi was shy but never timid. She was a born protector of all those she loved, particularly her family.
Lexi loved life. She loved random dance parties, singing in the car, sunshine, traveling, and anything that involved hanging out with her family.
When Lexi was 15 years old she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. While in treatment, she met her best friend and soul mate, Ricky, at Primary Children’s Cancer Clinic. The two of them loved and supported each other in ways that only they could. They were married on September 15, 2018 in the Timpanogos Temple. They both understood that their life together on earth would be too short lived but they were comforted at the knowledge that their love will continue to grow throughout eternity.
The cancer community became particularly important to Lexi. She spent countless hours visiting friends and families impacted by the same disease she fought. She looked for personalized ways to help ease other people’s burdens, despite facing incomprehensible suffering herself. Lexi always said that cancer gave her the opportunity to better understand other people’s pain and know better how she could lighten their load. Her biggest frustration about her own trials was how difficult they must be for everyone else. Lexi loved big and never wanted those around her to hurt or suffer in anyway.
Lexi is welcomed home by her Great Grandparents and many of her close angel friends. Just after her passing the sky let go of a small sprinkle of rain and we smiled at the tears of joy that had been shed at the long awaited reunion.
Lexi is survived by her sweetheart, Ricky, her parents, Kris and Emily, her “twin” Cam, her beautiful sisters Liv, and Leah, her grandmas, her grandpa, her aunts and uncles, many cousins that she considered siblings, countless friends, and many special cancer friends and families.
Lexi’s family wishes to express their immense gratitude to all of those who cared for her in any capacity over the last several years. Thank you all for loving our girl the way you did. You each hold a very special place in our hearts.
