ALLEN BOYD RASMUSSEN

Allen Boyd Rasmussen, 74, died at his home in Lehi, Utah early Tuesday morning.

Born June 5, 1938 at Mount Pleasant, Utah to John Boyd and Vera Nielsen Rasmussen, he married Lara Lynne England February 18, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Educated primarily in Utah Schools, he graduated from South High School in Salt Lake, attended BYU, graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors of Science in Education, and later graduated from Utah State University with a Masters in Education Administration.

Served in the US Army from 1956-1959 in Army Finance.  Fulfilled an LDS mission to Argentina.  He was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving as a bishop's counselor, high councilman, bishop, teacher, and other assignments.  Served a second mission at the Salt Lake Family History Center with his wife.

Mr. Rasmussen taught school for thirty years in the Granite School District at Whittier, Farnsworth, and Orchard Elementary Schools, where he taught grades 2 thru 6.  He enjoyed watching the growth and progress his students made.  His highlight was producing musical productions and choruses with students.

During most of his teaching career he was actively involved in his teachers' association, serving at GEA, UEA, and NEA levels.  He believed in leaving the profession better than he found it.  He worked for increased funding for student supplies and text books.

Allen is survived by his wife, Lara, Sons Mark Allen (Aunalia), John Matthew (Ginger), Benjamin 'C,' and David Earl (Laurisa), Siblings Robert 'E' Rasmussen, Kay Elaine Coscia, and John Keith Rasmussen, Step-father Bob Cox (Betty Lou), and 11 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Lee Rasmussen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23 rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Lake Ridge 9 th Ward Chapel, 7825 West Sharon Drive, Magna, Utah.  A viewing will be held for family and friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 So., Magna, Utah, and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the ward.  Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park, West Valley City, Utah.
