Allen Franklin Short

Allen left this earthly life on December 22, 2023 at the age of 83.   

Allen was born on February 28, 1940 in Marion, Ohio.  Allen was the youngest child of Helen Marguerite Bentz Short and Theodore Baker Short.

Allen served a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ (LDS) Mission to Tahiti in 1962-64.  He thoroughly enjoyed teaching the Tahitian people and made many lasting friends.

Allen attended schools in Marion, OH and graduated from Marion-Harding High School in 1958.  He attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a B.S. and a M.S. in Public Administration.

Allen married the love of his life, Judy Clark Short in the Logan, UT LDS Temple.  They were happily married for 42 years before she passed away in 2016.

Allen served in the US Army.  He worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority, Knoxville, TN; Casper, WY; and State of Utah Emergency Management.

Allen was a convert to the LDS church in 1951.  He faithfully served in many callings and especially enjoyed working with the LDS missionaries.  Allen traveled extensively with his wife, sisters, nephews and friends to Europe, Asia, Egypt, Australia, Africa as well as the U.S and Canada.  Allen enjoyed life to the fullest and was always up for a game of Scrabble.   He was a great help and support to his many family members and friends and will be in our memories forever.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Short; siblings, Edward (Betty) Short, Anita J. (Karl) Johnson, and Shirley (Gale) Wise.  He is survived by Richard (Marilyn) Short, Theodora (Teddie) Ireland and many loved nephews and nieces. 

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Redwood Rd.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Walnut Hills LDS Ward, 5938 W. 6200 S., Kearns, UT.
