Barbara Jean Finley Pearce
1928-2017
Our loving and beautiful blue-eyed mother, Barbara Jean Finley Pearce, passed away on July 6, 2017 in Magna, Utah. She was born on Aug. 12, 1928 in Washington to O.C. Finley and Dorothy Finley, and the family soon moved to Magna. Barbara adored this small town and spent her entire life making loving memories to pass down to generations of children who call her Mom, Grammy, and Great-Grammy.
The 4th of July was one of Mom’s favorite holidays. With kids in tow, she’d take everyone to see the parade, followed by a walk along her beautiful street with friends and family for a party. Our mouths watered for her delicious potato salad!
Barbara was full of life and didn’t know a stranger. If you ask anyone, they’ll remember her sense of humor and feistiness, which she passed onto her children.
She is admired for her achievements in business, especially as a strong woman working in the ‘50s era. Barbara retired from UNIVAC, which delivered the world's first commercially available computer, and subsequently enjoyed her freedom traveling between Arizona and Magna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and a son-in-law. She is survived by her children, Jackie Rasmussen (Heber, deceased), Tori Curtis (Paul), John Schneller (Kristina); and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Beehive Homes of Magna and Quality Home Health and Hospice for taking such good care of Mom. These organizations provided an abundance of love and care for Mom and our family.
A private service will be held at a later date.
