Barbara Thomsen
1934 ~ 2017
With joy and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Barbara Jean Thomsen. Barbara passed away peacefully on October 7, 2017 at the age of 83 due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease and age.
Barbara was born in Magna, Utah on April 18, 1934 to Royal and Ida Larsen. She married her sweetheart, Marlin “Sonny” Thomsen on September 18, 1952. Their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple in 1953. They are the parents of four children: Max (Echo), Stephanie (Tim), Tammy, and Stacey (Ted) and grandparents to 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Sonny passed away in 2014.
A woman of great faith, Barbara held many positions in the LDS Church throughout her life. She was a virtuoso on the piano and taught lessons for many years, passing her love of music to her posterity. Barbara enjoyed cooking, painting, genealogy work and serving customers at the full-service beauty salon in her home. She is remembered for her deep love of family, the Gospel, and for numerous acts of quiet service.
