Bernice Hales Evans
1924 ~ 2015
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Bernice Hales Evans passed away March 2, 2015 in Herriman, UT. She was born July 24, 1924 in Payson, UT to Robert Elmo and Zelma Faye Elmer Hales. She married John E. Evans June 10, 1940 in Salt Lake City; their marriage was sealed in the Logan LDS Temple July 9, 1940. John passed away February 15, 2014. Bernice was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many callings including Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society Presidency. She and John served a mission in Charlotte, NC. Bernice enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and serving in the PTA. She is survived by her children, Arlene (Leon) Robinson, Linda (Roy) Christensen, Richard (Sheri), Anita (Kim) Openshaw, and David; 22 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brother, Lynn Hales; and sister, Carma Evans. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; baby boy, Robert; and grandson, Cody.
A special thanks to everyone who cared for mom over the years.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 S. 8400 W. Viewings will be held Monday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., and Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
