Robert Harold Harding (Bob) of Magna Utah, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 13, 2022. He was born the opening morning of the deer hunt, October 20, 1936, to Mary Elva Bawden and Harold Edward Harding. He was the oldest of 4 children. He graduated from Cyprus High School, class of 1954.
Bob was a life-long hard worker. He started delivering milk for his family’s dairy at the age of 7 and delivered every morning up to the day he married his best friend and the love of his life, Carol Jeanne Fields, in Tooele, Utah, on September 14, 1956. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple on July 8, 2000. They spent the first year of their marriage in Tooele and then moved back to Magna to be near the family farm. They were blessed with four children, Steven Robert, Natalie, Mark Edward and Bobbi Jean. Along with their children and many other family and friends, they spent 18 months building the family home on the farm. They moved into the completed home in December of 1974.
Bob hired on with Kennecott Copper in November of 1954. He worked in all three of the mills, eventually moving up to become a welder/boilermaker. Bob ended his career in what he described as the best area to work in, Water Services. He made many lifelong friends in his 43 years of service.
After retirement, Bob devoted his time to his family, farm and community. Bob spent countless hours in the service of others as the weir master on the Utah Salt Lake Canal. He also served in his ward’s bishopric and served as a trustee on the Magna Mosquito abatement. He loved farming, horses, hunting, fishing, the gospel and, most of all, his family. He loved taking his grandkids on summer road trips to Yellowstone and New Mexico to visit his sister. Bob traveled with Carol by his side to most of the states in the US and took several cruises. Bob and Carol took their family with them to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii, where they spent 8 days just enjoying time with one another. Bob was known as a kind, loving and generous man.
Bob is survived by his eternal companion Carol, sister Myrna Raisor, sister-in-law Betty Lou Cox, brother-in-law Ronald Robinson, children Steven (Sheleigh), Natalie (Bob Honeycutt), Mark (Cheryl), Bobbi Jean (Nondas Nicholes). Grandchildren: Joshua Harding, Dayne (Summer) Crawford, Bryan Nicholes, Nathan(Bhea Honeycutt) Madeline Helier and Megan (Riley Olsen).
