Boyce Jackson Syme

Husband, father, grandfather, uncle, mentor and friend passed away on 05/28/2017.
He was born in S.L.C. UT on 01/30/1930 to Alden B. and Gladys M. Syme. He grew up in Moroni, UT and was an active member of the LDS church. He left Moroni and moved to Magna in 1947 for work. He fought in Korea with the 224 th regimental combat unit of the U.S. Army and was involved in the Battles of Inchon, Bloody Ridge, Sandbag, Heartbreak Ridge, and The Punchbowl from 1951 to 1953. He returned to Utah with honors and worked with his brother at their shop, C & B Marina and Welding, which they purchased in 1949. He was a skilled welder and also worked for KUCC for 46+ years as a Foreman at the smelter.
He married his sweetheart, Sarah (Sally) Francis McGlinchey on 01/26/1963. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and going to their cabin.
He is survived by his 4 kids, Kenneth(Cheryl), Steven J, Susan M Evans(Steve), Kevin(Susan L); his sister, Theone Jorgensen; many grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally; brother, Charles; sister, Lorene; and brother-in-law, Morris.
The family is grateful to the doctors and professionals at the IMC and Jordan Valley Medical centers for the care they provided. He was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Pleasant Green 2 nd Ward, 8739 W. 3000 S. Viewings will be held Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., and Monday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Pleasant Green Cemetery. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
