Catherine Simpson
1916-2012
On June 7 th , 2012 one of God's choicest earthly angels passed from this life into her eternal glory. Catherine Simpson lived a life of love and service to both her family and to all she met who were in need. She was born in the house of her grandparents on August 21, 1916, to Carl Christian Conradsen and Rhoda Mariah Beckstead in South Jordan, Utah. She was the oldest sibling of four sisters (Louise Pulley Williams, Karen Tollefson Jones, Florence Thomas) and two brothers (Donald and Rex). Catherine was raised in Magna, Utah, where she made many friends while working as a loan officer for the Magna Cyprus Credit Union. She and her first husband, Ray Allen Simpson, married in 1942 and became the parents of two children, Carl and Diane. In 1957 she married Lynn C. Hendrickson in the Salt Lake Temple. After 33 years of happy marriage Lynn passed away in 1990. Catherine and Ray, while in their 70's, rekindled their love and were remarried in 1991. Ray passed away in 1997.
Catherine was a kind, loving and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also served as a Co- Captain for her local Company of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a farm girl at heart and spent countless enjoyable hours caring for her flower and vegetable gardens, the produce of which she and Lynn readily shared with all their family and friends. Spending time with her family was the real joy of her life and many wonderful hours were cherished with her devoted children and grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by her two children, Carl Simpson (Bonnie) of South Jordan, and Diane Jacobsen (Ron) of Snohomish, Washington, twelve grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 15th at 12:00 PM at the Spencer 4 th Ward Chapel, 8181 Breeze Drive, Magna, Utah. The family will receive friends at a visitation Thursday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, Utah, and one hour prior to the service.
