Catheryn Ellen Anderton Withy

Born in the Uinta Basin farming community of Roosevelt, UT to Rulon and Erma Anderton, Catheryn's curiosity of the world and her surroundings led her from the basin to Utah State University and sorority adventures. Graduation took her to a teaching position at Primary Children's Hospital and then to Hawaii with her sister for more teaching, research, and fun. Hawaiian life would forge lifelong friendships and shape the music that filled her home. Her travels abroad would influence the life and education she gave her family. Back in Utah, she settled into a lifelong teaching career in at-risk elementary schools and an eventual master's degree in counseling. Teaching was her career, and learning her passion. Signs of her commitment to both showed in return visits from her former students and in the library of books she collected in her earnest search for truth. Love, determination, and commitment are the threads that wove her life together. With them, she created a patchwork quilt of warmth, comfort, humor, and wisdom she shared with everyone she met. She will be missed dearly by her five children, seven brothers and sisters, and five grandchildren. Viewings are being held on Friday Jan 18, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Peel Funeral Home (8525 W. 2700 S. Magna, UT), and 10-10:45 before the funeral service on Jan 19, 2013 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel located at 3610 S. 8400 W. Magna, UT. A graveside service is planned for close family and relatives at the Roosevelt Cemetery at 3:00 pm Jan 19, 2013. Donations can be made to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
