Charlene Richards McAllister passed away at The Ashford Assisted Living and Memory Care Center of Draper on December 21, 2024, from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease.
Charlene is survived by her five children: Amos Jay III, James Nile (Melanie), Robert Michael, January Victoria, and Shawn Elizabeth (Walter); her eleven grandchildren: Heather, Melissa, Zachary, Sierra, Trevor, Tommy, Joshua, Christian, Richard, Abigale, and Daniel; her six great-grandchildren: Kailee, Mcartni, Brady, McKenna, Mason, and Quincy; and her great-great-grandchild Kyas. She was reunited in Heaven with her eternal companion Amos Jay II, and her parents Robert Nile and Doratha Richards.
Charlene was born on July 29, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She met her lifelong sweetheart Jay at Brockbank Jr. High. They attended Cyprus High School together, graduating in 1959. They married on December 15, 1961, and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faithful church service included temple worker and callings in the Primary, Sunday School, Young Women’s, and Relief Society organizations.
Charlene’s married life began as an Army spouse, which took her to Germany, Maryland, Utah, Oklahoma, and back to Germany. She cared for her growing family when Jay served two tours of Vietnam and was away on lengthy exercises. When Jay left the military and sought a teaching degree, she worked at the Newspaper Agency Corporation to support her family. She retired in 2003.
Charlene loved to be surrounded by family. She loved the holidays, tirelessly upholding old traditions, and making new ones. Halloween, Christmas, and Easter were especially fun times at her house. She was always sunny and brightened the day of anyone she met.
Charlene’s family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff at The Ashford for their kindness and service. They truly enhanced her life at its most difficult stage.
