CLARENCE LEO RUPP

MAGNA- Our father, grandfather and friend Leo Rupp passed away June 21, 2011. Leo was born October 6, 1920, in Grantsville, Utah to Clarence Joseph and Erma Stewart Rupp. After graduation from Tooele High School he married his sweetheart Melva Nielsen September 3, 1940. Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Leo served in the U.S. Navy as a radar technician during WWII.  After the war he attended LDS Business College. His occupations included a brakeman for the Railroad, postal carrier, and retired as an accountant for Kennecott Copper Corp.

Leo loved to fish, hunt and travel which included drives in the desert. He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he served as Ward Clerk, Bishop and Stake Clerk.  Both Leo and Melva served a mission in Columbus, Ohio and Temple workers at the Jordan River Temple for 14 years.

Leo will be remembered for being able to fix anything, his sense of humor, and his integrity. He considered everyone a friend. Leo loved his friends at the Legacy Retirement Center, but most of all his family was his number one priority.

Leo is survived by his daughters; Leslie (Roger) Rodak, Terry (Craig) Barney, Susan (Wayne) Ethington, Coree  (Raymond) Ogden; daughter-in-law, Karen Rupp, 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, brothers, Glen Rupp, Kenneth Rupp; and special friend Wanda Beck.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva; son, Gary; sister, Shirley Liljenquist and his parents.

Funeral services will be 11 am, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Magna Stake Center, 8181 W. 3100 So.  Family and friends may call  Friday, June 24, 2011, at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 So., 6-8 pm and Saturday 10-10:45 at the church. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the LDS Missionary Fund.  Interment:  Valley View Memorial Park.  Condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
