Cleo Kirk Hales

Cleo K. Hales died March 29, 2013 at her home in Salt Lake City cause incident to age. She was born July 13, 1916 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Ray E. and Merle Hooley Kirk. Cleo married Arthur B. Hales December 24, 1932 in Salt Lake City and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1954. Arthur passed away January 1, 1972.
Cleo worked at the Small Arms Plant and Kennecott Copper Magna Mill during World War II. She also worked at the Tooele Ordinance during the Korean War. Cleo dedicated her life to the LDS church and worked in the Salt Lake Temple from 1981 until she retired in 1984 and then went on to serve faithfully in her church callings. Cleo was a cancer survivor. She was told in 1984 she only had 6 months to live. Cleo changed her life style and not only cured herself, but lived on another 29 years. Before Arthur died, he and Cleo went on innumerable hunting and fishing trips. They both loved to camp and spend time in the outdoors.
Cleo is survived by her children; Wayne A. Hales, Kurt L. Hales, ReNae C. Rezac, brother, Shirl H. Kirk, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Joseph Ray Hales, brothers; Glen E. Kirk, Leland Ray Kirk, sisters; Leah Dilley, Vera Chipman, Gladys Kirk.
Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the 18th North Ward, 135 A Street, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 pm at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna and 10-10:45 am Thursday at the church prior to services.
