Connie Lou Duke, 87, passed away on June 23, 2023.
Connie was born on May 11, 1936 to Owen Lewis Duke and Rose May Peterson in Magna, Utah.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Owen Lewis Duke and Rose May Peterson, and older sister Fleurette Duke Best (Lannie).
In August 1943, Connie’s family car was hit by a bus and Connie was thrown onto the sidewalk. She suffered a skull fracture and a traumatic brain injury that affected her the rest of her life. Connie attended Webster Elementary, Brockbank Junior High, and Cyprus High School. She lived at home with her parents until they passed away. Connie moved to Golden Living Center in Taylorsville. Her cousin Ron Hagen looked after Connie until he passed away from cancer. She asked her cousins Janice and Barry Fisher to help her after Ron’s passing.
Connie loved bingo, having her fingernails painted, John Wayne, and hair accessories.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She “endured to the end.”
Special thanks to the staff at Sandy Health and Rehab, especially her nurses Steve and Pat. Thank you to the Fisher family for their visits and kindness to Connie over the years.
