Dakota Scott Smith was born on December 18, 1986 to Scott and Sandra Smith in West Valley, Utah and passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2015 leaving many broken hearts behind.
Dakota had a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone in need.  He faced many challenges in life but always wanted to do the right thing and make his Dad proud. We take comfort in knowing he is finally at peace. We will miss him every day especially his caring, brown, puppy dog eyes that always got him everything he wanted. We are so proud of the loving heart he possessed, especially his love of animals.
He is survived by his parents, Scott (Stacey) Smith and Sandra (Lon) Cavanaugh; sister, Brooke; half-brother, Ryan and step brothers, Jake, Taylor and Ryan. He was very loved by his grandparents, Bryan and Kathy Smith, Mary and Les Ramsey and Carla and Bob Guyre.  He also leaves behind three nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. Magna Main St. (2700 S.), where viewing will be held Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 10-11 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Herriman City Cemetery. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
