David Paul Spivey

1951-2012

David Paul Spivey, born October 7, 1951 in Tooele to Bill and Shirley Spivey passed away Dec. 23, 2012 with family by his side.  Dave grew up in Magna, he was king (sophomore royalty), before graduating in 1970 from Cyprus High School.  Dad was a journeyman carpenter and enjoyed over 30 years working with local 184, where he met many life-long friends.  Besides the ability to build great things with his hands, dad also had a passion for martial arts and held a black belt in Kenpo Karate.  Dad enjoyed many things in life ; he was an avid outdoorsman, a hiker as well as a "rock hound".  He explored much of the great state of Utah from Kings Peak to San Rafeal Swell. Dad was a hunter; weeks spent on the mountain for the elk hunt was a tradition for our family. Dad married Debbie Spivey in 1973, divorced 23 years later but was able to remain friends, and continued to be great examples to their children and grandchildren.  Dad was grateful to find a new trade later in life in farming.  Driving the swather and watering cows was his dream job and he was able to enjoy it with much loved family.

Dave leaves behind his mother, Shirley; siblings, Mike (Bonnie), Karl (Pam) and Kathy (Jimmy); children, Lee (Chari), Willow (Max), Erik (Angie); grandchildren, Kaden, Quinn, Kyra, Dallin, Braxton, Persephone and Gavin.  Preceded in death by his father, Bill.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., Magna, where a viewing will be held 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
