Dean B. Mortensen

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Dean Bain Mortensen died peacefully November 4, 2013 in Bountiful, UT.  He was born April 3, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Orrin Walter and Martha Bain Mortensen; growing up near the State Capital, he graduated from West High School. Dean served in the US Army for 2 years.  He married his sweetheart, Laura "Bonnie" Allias in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and served in many church callings throughout his life.  He attended the U of U engineering program, later becoming a licensed professional surveyor, and served as a past president of the Utah Council of Land Surveyors. He also served as a trustee for the Davis Sewer District for nearly 20 years. He was the music man for the Golden Living Center "Dancing Grannies" and called them all his mothers. Family meant everything to him and he spent his last two weeks of his life in PV, Mexico enjoying them. He is survived by his wife, Laura "Bonnie"; sons, Guy (Anita), Scott (Britt), and Jeff (Sandy); 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sharon Gilbert and Janet Collings; 2 brothers, Lee (Debbie) and Jerry (Donna); sister-in-law, Nancy.  Preceded in death by parents; brother, Dale; and brother-in-law, Jack Gilbert. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Lakeview Hopital, they were great, and Dr. Scott West and his staff for the many years of care.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Foxhill Ward, 200 S. Eagle Ridge Dr., North Salt Lake, where viewings will be held both Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
