Long time Magna resident, Douglas T. Smith passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in his apartment at the Legacy Retirement Residence in South Jordan, Utah, where he resided for the past four and a half years. He was born January 26, 1916 in Midvale, Utah to Thomas Able and Margaret Jones Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart of 65 years, Dorothy Duckworth Smith. Doug was a loving and supportive husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a volunteer Fireman for 25 years and retiree of KCC with 40 years of service as an industrial painter. He is survived by daughter, Linda (David) Woolley; son, Courtney (Nancy Beck) Smith; sister, Janice (Barry) Fisher; 7 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters; a great-grandson, Ryan Woolley; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to all the staff and friends at Legacy for their help, concern and love. They also wish to thank the special staff of Home Instead Senior Care and Hearts for Home Health and Hospice.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 12 noon at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S. Magna, Utah. Friends may visit with the family prior to the services from 10:30 to 11:45. Interment at the Midvale City Cemetery. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
