Edna Hammel
1927 ~ 2013
Edna M Petersen Hammel died peacefully on July 14, 2013 at St. Joseph's Villa after suffering with Alzheimer's for several years. She was born November 16, 1927.
Edna was a hard worker. She wasn't afraid to chop wood or fix the car when it broke down. She loved being at the cabin and had a special love for her dogs Spot, Stubby, Jake, Odie, and Gracie. She had a green thumb and could grow just about anything. She loved to eat peas straight from the garden. She loved the Utah Jazz and kept statistics while she watched. She volunteered at the Food Pantry in Kearns for many years and received an award from the Governor for her years of service. She was very proud of this achievement.
She is survived by her children, Kay Carter, Max (LaRaine) Petersen, Lorrie (Tom Morris) Schaller, Rex (JoLene) Petersen, and Paul (Kimberly) Hammel. She has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her first husband Max Petersen, second husband Calvin Hammel, and son John Petersen.
Funeral services will be at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S. in Magna, July 18th, at 11:30 am. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. Condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
