Edna D. Knaus

Edna Frances DeGraw Knaus joined her eternal companion on January 15, 2025. She was born on April 9, 1925, in Emmett, Idaho, to Doris Kirk DeGraw and David Rylie DeGraw. Edna was raised in Emmett, where she began working in local orchards at the age of eight. She graduated from Emmett High School and was offered an art scholarship, which she declined to stay and care for her mother.

In 1945, Edna moved to the Salt Lake Valley, where she met the love of her life, Edward A. Knaus, at the Terrace Ballroom. They were married on October 29, 1953, and raised two children whom they loved dearly. Family was always a focal point in her life.

Edna enjoyed reading and traveling with family and friends, often taking trips to California, Arizona, and Mexico. She took great pride in her family and friends and cherished the time spent with them. Her weekly Rummikub group brought her much joy.

Edna was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church positions. She was a visiting teacher for over 50 years, which she viewed as one of her greatest callings. She deeply loved her Savior.

Edna is survived by her son, David E. (Jean) Knaus; and daughter, Dori Decker; five grandchildren, Jennifer Boyd, Joseph (Erica) Lujan, Kathryn (Jake) Powell, Rebecca Nix, and Laurie (Fenton) Whetstone; and ten great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service.

Funeral services will be held at the Lake Ridge 11th Ward, 7825 West Sharon Drive (3340 South), Magna at 11:30 AM Friday, January 24th. Friends may call both Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Peel Funeral Home and Friday from 10:30 - 11:15 AM at the church. Interment: Valley View Cemetery, West Valley City.
