Elsie Rushton Turpin Lovelace

1920 - 2010

Elsie Ethel Rushton Turpin Lovelace passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 29, 2010 in her home in West Valley City, Utah.  Elsie was born February 12, 1920 in Hunter, Utah to Alma E. and Ethel Barclay Rushton.

She grew up in a loving home and learned to work hard, a blessing she continued, appreciated and taught throughout her life.  She used her many talents to bless the lives of others.  She will be remembered for teaching her family baking skills, especially her black currant pies, homemade chocolates, oatmeal cookies, creamy fudge and more.  She was a peacemaker and always encouraged her family to love one another.  She loved the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and taught her family by example.

Elsie married her first love, Douglas E. Turpin on November 5, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  They were blessed with two children, Brad and Joy.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple; Doug died January 8, 1970.  She was later introduced to Gordon J. Lovelace by her daughter, they married October 18, 1972; he died August 3, 2008.

Survived by her son, Brad D. (Marianne) Turpin; 8 grandchildren, Tonya Ricks, Troy (Renee) Ricks, Torie (Bart) Golder, Trent Ricks, Tracey Carl, Jeffrey Turpin, Jade Turpin, and Chad (Christen) Turpin; 18 great grandchildren; and 3 and A� great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; daughter, Joy Turpin Ricks; great granddaughter, Felicia Golder; 4 brothers, Gordon, Lawrence, Don, and Floyd Rushton; and 3 sisters, Shirley Culverwell, Dorothy Jones, and Carol Jean Rushton.

The family wishes to thank Vista Care Hospice for their love and care, especially, Tammy and Angie.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Pheasant Brook Ward, 3970 S. 5200 W., where friends and family may call both Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.  Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.  Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
