Gay Seay Jones
October 2, 1929 to November 20, 2017
“I’m Gay. My name is; I’m not!” was her traditional greeting to anyone she met, and people instantly fell in love with her wonderful sense of humor. Gay Seay Jones passed away peacefully on November 20, 2017 at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada, surrounded by family.
Gay was born on October 2, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Percy Wilson and Mabel Goodell Seay. She grew up in Magna, Utah where she worked at the family business, Puck’s Ice Cream Parlor. It was there she met her sweetheart of 69 years, Chester Leroy Jones.
Gay and Chet married on August 31, 1948 and moved to Southern California where they raised their three children in Burbank and Glendale. Gay worked as a unit clerk at Glendale Memorial Hospital for 16 years. She was very involved in Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts and PTA.
Gay loved to camp with family and friends, and enjoyed RV trips with Chet in their retirement years. Retirement took them to Carson City, Nevada where she spent her days doing her favorite hobbies and enjoying time with family who lived nearby. She loved to sew, knit and crochet, and created all kinds of treasures. Some of her most cherished creations were Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren, and baby blankets for everyone. She made the loveliest Christmas packages with beautiful hand-tied bows.
Gay was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joy, their family dog, Happy and her cat, Goldie. She had an amazing smile and zest for life that will be greatly missed. She is survived by her devoted husband, Chester, her three children, Leslie Kadz (Roger,) Ronald (Deb,) and Robert (Ginger;) her eight grandchildren, Alliy Sahagun (Jared,) Lisa Aland (Troy,) John Kadz (Alison,) Christie Anderson (Scott,) Sheena Jones, Stephanie Leunis (Jared), Jennifer Vondrak (Kyle,) and Jonathan Jones; her niece, Dana Amogol (John,) and her 15 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held Friday, November 24 at La Paloma Mortuary in Reno. Funeral services and burial will be held on December 2, 2017 at 11 am, Peel Mortuary, Magna, Utah.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Renown Medical Center for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate your time and means to a matter close to your heart.
