Harold Lee Obray was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father on July 15th, 2023. He was born November 15th, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Vern Bradley Obray and Sylvia Marie Beck. He served a full-time mission to the North Western States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While serving honorably in the Army, he met the love of his life, Judith Howard at a church activity. One couldn’t know Harold without hearing of his love for Jesus Christ and Judith. He was sealed to Judith on November 22,1967 in the Salt Lake temple.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he faithfully served in many callings throughout his life. He participated in the scouting program achieving multiple awards including Woodbadge, Silver Beaver, and was accepted into the Order of the Arrow. He helped all three of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, as well as many other young men he considered his sons.
Harold was honored to serve five missions in his life: full-time mission, a stake mission in Magna, Ward Mission Leader in Paradise 2nd ward, Ward Mission Leader in Granger West 9th Ward and a 2 year spiritual advisor mission at Westridge Academy. He served as a Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker with his eternal companion for seven years. He was actively involved with the Sons of Utah Pioneers.
He always loved his family, mission companions, co-workers, scout sons, Westridge granddaughters, fellow Salt Lake Temple workers, SUP sons and wives, ward members, neighbors, and pretty much everyone he came into contact with.
Harold was a third generation Kennecott Utah Copper employee. He worked nearly 33 years as a lead burner, boilermaker, and trainer at the refinery. He enjoyed teaching welding at SLCC and at Bridgerland Applied Technology Center. He worked many other jobs and loved all he learned from them.
Harold is survived by his children, Michael (LaRee), and their children, Tayne (Dalton), Colton, Garrett and Hunter; Brandon (Jennifer) Chandler and their children, Marty Jean (Brent) Partridge, Frank-Matthew, Katherine, Sara, Amber, and Makayla; Natalie Gonzalez; Brittany (Scott) Sine and their son, Ashton Bair; Christian; brother, Richard (Regina); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Judith; parents; brother, Delmar; and sister-in-law, Donna.
