James Wallace Hoefer

James Wallace Hoefer, Jim, passed away February 6, 2025 in Cody, Wyoming after a brief illness. He was 83. Jim was born on December 16, 1941 in San Diego, California, to Edward Carl and Dorothy Louise (née Wallace). He was the second of their four children, those being Edward III, Jim, Lyle, and Janice. He graduated from Barstow High School in Barstow California and joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Fort Worth, Texas. While there, he met Patricia Marie Harvey. They were married on September 29, 1966, but divorced in 2006. Together they had 10 children, all boys but eight, Ruth, Clarrisa, Edward IV, Dorothy, Mary, Lydia, Carolyn, Frederic, Lela, and Amanda.

Jim was trained in electronics communications in the Air Force and continued in this field for the remainder of his life. Because of the changing nature of electronics, he struggled to keep employed. He moved his family frequently living in California, Madagascar, Minnesota, but mostly in Utah. He married Linda Jacqueline Condrey-Ellison (née Scott) in 2009 and they eventually made their home in Wyoming.

Jim is survived by his wife Linda and her three children, brother Lyle (Bonnie), and children Ruth (Rick) Peay, Clarrisa (Troy) Bartholomew, Ed, Dolly (Cody) Case, Mary Wilson, Lydia (Ryne) Belcher, Carolyn (Jared) Baker, Lela (Sam) White, Amanda (Mike) Whitaker, 34 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed, sister Janice, son Fred, and granddaughter Candela.

His children want to thank Linda for her compassionate care, never ending love for their father, and seeing him through to the end. Their gratitude is without bounds.

Funeral services will be held February 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at 760 N. 1200 W. in Salt Lake City, Utah. The viewing will be held one hour prior at 11:00 a.m at the same location. He will be interred at Memorial Redwood Cemetery in West Jordan, Utah.
