Taylorsville, UT - Janice Barton Cahoon, 69, of Taylorsville Utah was reunited with her Heavenly Father and parents peacefully on February 11, 2021.

Janice was born in Santa Monica, California on April 22, 1951 to Rex and Zola Barton. She was the first of three children, following her was her sister Marilyn and brother Robert.

On April 8, 1977, Janice and Russel Cahoon married in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for almost 44 years. During that time they had three children (Jared, Justin, and Jenna), and 9 grandchildren.

It’s hard to imagine a world without one of your biggest cheerleaders, and that’s what Janice was for her family and friends. Janice loved her family immensely. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. Janice loved her friendships. She carefully crafted many relationships over the years, which became some of her most precious assets. Janice was an avid lover of all holidays. She believed in any opportunity to celebrate and have a party, and carefully orchestrated each one.

Janice is survived by her husband, Russel Cahoon; sister Marilyn (Chris) and Brother Robert; her two sons Jared (Kathryn), Justin (Jennifer ), and daughter Jenna Rae (Josh); nine grandchildren, Kennedy, Emma, Ailey, Chase, Lauren, Mya, Tobie, Porter, and Miles. She was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Zola.

A viewing will be held between 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. Magna Main St.

Due to COVID restrictions, services will be limited to close friends and family by invitation, directly after the viewing. A live stream will be available beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Following the services, a graveside dedication will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road.
