John Coon, born June 25 1919 died December 3, 2016 from natural causes. He was born in Pleasant Green Utah, later to become Magna Utah. He was one of eight children born to Arthur and Ruth Breeze Coon. He went to school at Hawthorn, Webster and Cyprus High schools. John was examined for the army draft and accepted. While waiting to serve, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and John joined the Army Air Corps. He spent the next four years serving at different air fields, ending up at Cowan Air Field, Boise Idaho.
He was chosen to go for the original cadre of a newly formed Bomb Group the 384th and sent to Wendover, Utah to train on B17's. After training he was sent to the European Theater with the 8th Air Force. At the end of WWII John came home, met and married Enid Anderson of Vernal Utah. They married in Reno Nevada on April 11, 1946 a year later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. John owned and operated the Four Way Service Station in Magna Utah for 40 years. John and Enid kept a vacation home in St. George and at retirement spent more time in that area. While there they held many church positions, served a LDS mission and John served as President of Washington 10th Branch John and Enid were married for 63 years. Survived by 3 wonderful children Layne (Pat) Coon, Wade (Judy) Coon, RaChele (Bruce) Hayward, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren and one sibling Kenny Coon Preceded in death by wife Enid Coon January 23, 2009, parents and 6 siblings.
The family would like to thank the Magna Beehive Home and Community Nursing Services Home Health and Hospice for all they have done.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday December 9, 2016 at Spencer 1st Ward 3084 South 8400 West. Visitations will be held Thursday 6-8 pm and Friday 10-10:45 am. Interment : Valley View Memorial Park
