1940 ~ 2016
Was taken to his Heavenly Home on August 1 st 2016. The ONLY child of Johnnie Taylor Sr. & Frances Bustamante was born in 1940 in Denver, CO, but raised by loving foster grandparents Jero & Elizabeth Reynolds in Bennion, UT from age 8. He attended Cyprus & then when it was built, Granger High Schools & BYU. He served an East Central States Mission from ‘61-‘63, then the Army called & he went to Hawaii with the U.S. Army 25 th Infantry from ’63-’65 where he boxed. He married Beverley Beagley in February 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the “tough” kid in school, but later on John was a faithful home teacher, Elder’s Quorum & High Priest Quorum counselor. He loved to talk to people about the gospel. He was a very humble & obedient servant of the Lord with tremendous faith & testimony. He was always smiling & willing & ready to help others. His life was spent as an avid jogger/walker, weight lifter, biker, & sports enthusiast his whole life! Ask his boys! He also loved dancing, singing, yard work & the grandchildren! We’ll never forget his sense of humor! He was employed @ Magna’s Kennecott’s Arthur Concentrator on the Roll Floor. His friends will miss his jokes, sweet smile & the hours of service he lovingly gave although he struggled with dementia for many years & finally Alzheimer’s.
Survived by wife, Bev; sons, Corey (Heather) Taylor, Midvale, UT, Travis (Kim) Taylor, Bluffdale, UT, and Cody (Mandi) Taylor, WVC, UT; grandchildren, Matthew Allen, Heather (Koby) Young, Chris (Kaleigh)Taylor, Carly Coley, Brandi (Tyson) Herbert, Truitt (Chandra) Wallis, Jared, Chance, Aubrey, Gavin, Nils, Jor’El, Robyn & Cannon Taylor; great grandchildren, Koda Young, Talan & Jax Wallis, Carmen & Lauren Coley and Conner & Sage Herbert.
Preceded in death by infant son, Jeremy Kay Taylor (stillborn 1977); foster grandparents, Jero & Elizabeth Reynolds; parents, Frances & Johnnie Taylor Sr.; foster brother, Charles Fisher & Joyce.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Whitehall Ward, 3150 West Whitehall Avenue (3985 So.) WVC, UT. Viewings will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W 2700 S. Magna, UT, and Saturday 11-11:45 at the church.
