Katherine Elaine Gardiner (Elliott)

December 8, 1949 - October 6, 2019

Kathy died peacefully Sunday, October 6, 2019.

She was born in Ogden Utah to Melvin Gardiner and Elaine Hancey Gardiner. Soon after her family moved to Bountiful which became home. Kathy married her high school sweetheart Randy Carson and raised three boys: Monty (Melonie), Ryan and Adam. In 1998 she married Joe Elliott and later divorced in 2018. She was preceded in death by Randal Carson, her parents Melvin and Elaine, her sister Barbara Ann, her brother Jim and her beloved kitty companion Sage. She is survived by her children, her brother Bob (Mickey), her brother Ron (Josie), and her many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Kathy was a wonderful mother to her boys. Maybe not traditional, but none of us would trade her for the world. She loved the outdoors, camping, walking, photography and spending time in the mountains. She had a very special relationship with her brother Bob who she considered one of her closest friends. The last couple years of her life were trying, especially as her health started to deteriorate. She was devastated by the loss of her companion Sage earlier this year. The last two months she spent at Golden Living Taylorsville where she had the best care we could ask for, we are forever grateful to everyone there. She passed quietly and peacefully knowing she was among people who loved her.

An informal gathering to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at Memory Grove Park at 300 North Canyon Road in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, October 9 at 1:00 PM. Please spread the word to anyone who might want to attend to say goodbye. Her family and friends are spread far and wide.

Kathy requested that anyone who wished to memorialize her make a donation in her name to The Humane Society of Utah or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
