1957 ~ 2015

MAGNA, UT-Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Kathy Hayda Smith returned to her Heavenly Father October 1, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. At the time of her passing she was at home surrounded by family. She was born December 1, 1957 in Salt Lake City, UT to William and Marilyn Sadler Hayda.

On February 5 ^th , 1982 Kathy was sealed to the love of her life, Guy Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. On January 2 ^nd , 1985 they welcomed their only child, Joshua Moroni Smith into the world. Kathy was an active member of the LDS church and a member of the Spencer 5 ^th Ward. She made many fulfilling and lasting friendships through the various callings she served in church as well as with co-workers she met while working at G & K Services for 14 years. The most important and fulfilling thing for Kathy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, camping and playing cards.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Guy; son, Joshua (Whitney); mother, Marilyn Hayda; brothers, Scott, Allen, and Richard (Desi) Hayda; and many other family members. She is preceded in death by father, William Hayda; and both sets of grandparents.

We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Xylina Gregg and the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists, the bone marrow transplant team at LDS Hospital, and Dr. Jodie Miles and the staff with Intermountain Orthopedic Specialty Group.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Spencer 5 ^th Ward, 3830 S. 8000 W. Viewings will be held Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., and Wednesday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: West Jordan City Cemetery.
