Kirt J. Lamb

Magna and West Valley - Born August 2 nd , 1931 in Moroni, Utah to John Frank Lamb and Vilate Peterson. He passed away peacefully at his home on December 1 st after a short illness at the age 82. Kirt loved the time he spent as a boy on the farm in Wales. He graduated from Cyprus High and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Kirt was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served for 2 years as a missionary in Southern California. Kirt married JoAnn Davis on August 23 rd , 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 56 years together and were seldom ever apart. Kirt loved serving in the church and served faithfully in many callings including; High Councils, Bishoprics and Bishop of the Petersen Young Adult ward. His greatest love was studying the scriptures and he had an abounding love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. Kirt enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports and was a skilled carpenter. He enjoyed his work at Mountain Bell for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Since Kirt's retirement you would seldom see Kirt and JoAnn apart. They loved their time spent together serving as full-time missionaries in the Las Vegas Nevada mission. During their retirement they enjoyed traveling, especially visiting Church History sites. Kirt's greatest joy was serving his wife and children and loved being called grandpa. Kirt is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn; children, Julie (Hal) Hurst, Barbara (Kevin) Pasker, Melinda (Dalen) Slater, and Clinton (Becky) Lamb; his foster son, Verle Joe; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Mary Jean and Elmer Steed.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5 th at 11:00 a.m. at Colony Ward, 4251 S. 4800 W. A viewing, also at the Colony Ward, will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4 th , and from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral.
