Lara Lynne England Rasmussen, 82, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023 at her home in Taylorsville, Utah. Lara was born on October 18, 1940 in Logan, Utah to Clarence and Gwyneth England. Lara was educated in schools in Utah and Hawaii and graduated from East High School. She had a love of education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah and Master’s Degree from Utah State University.
Lara met Allen Boyd Rasmussen while singing in the University of Utah Acapella Choir. They were married on February 18, 1966 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. They shared 47 happy years and had five sons. Lara loved serving in the LDS church where she had many opportunities to serve in the church auxiliaries and to share her gift of music, especially as a pianist where she enjoyed accompanying choirs and congregations. After her retirement, Lara served a church service mission with her husband, where she explored her love of learning her roots and helped patrons in the church Family History Library.
In addition to time devoted to raising her family, Lara was a career teacher. She taught most of her career in the Granite School District where she helped many children in the early grades at Lake Ridge, Webster, and Pleasant Green Elementary, amongst other schools. She also taught piano and shared her musical talents with many students through the years.
Lara was a loving individual who loved to make friends wherever she went. She had a generous spirit and strived to share with those less fortunate than her.
Lara is survived by sons, Mark (Auna) Rasmussen, John Rasmussen, Benjamin Rasmussen, David (Laurisa) Rasmussen; sister, Jan (Lloyd) Arnesen; brother, Robert England; 11 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; and son, Daniel Lee Rasmussen.
The family extends a special thanks to the caring staff at Legacy House of Taylorsville, who helped care for Lara in her last two years.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 19th at 12:00 p.m. at the Lehi 49th Ward at 127 E. 3200 No., Lehi, Utah, where a viewing will be held before the funeral services from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120.
