LaRene Bastow Tanner was peacefully reunited with her sweetheart John, when he finally came for her, (how he did like to talk) and took her to her loving Heavenly Father September 16, 2014. She is survived by her son, John Michael Tanner and his wife Sherry, three grandchildren; Nyla Eakle, Jeb and Daleon Tanner, three great grandchildren; Julian, Elaine and Terrylee Eakle.
LaRene was born on March 22, 1934 in Salt Lake City to Frank Leon and Genevieve Crockett Bastow. Joining her in life were her two brothers; Frank (deceased) and Homer, sister, Dorothy Freeman. From the very beginning she was a feisty, but loving daughter who loved the gospel with all her heart.
She was married to John Smith Tanner on October 24, 1952 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Her greatest joy besides her family was Family History work. We are sure there was a throng of grateful souls waiting to embrace her for all the years of saving work she did. LaRene was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and loved the work and their fellowship. She loved to sing, read, play cards, (a card shark she wasn’t), sew, knit, garden and crafts. One of LaRene’s greatest dreams was to be a contestant on Jeopardy and beat Ken Jennings.
Thank you LaRene for being an important part of our lives.
