Leda Elsie Farnworth Petersen was born May 6, 1928, to Birtus Orral Farnworth and Mabel Imogene McWherter Farnworth in Gridley, California. Because of the depression the family moved frequently. Leda started school in Buckskin Basin, Idaho, in a one-room schoolhouse with one teacher for the whole school. She attended 2nd grade in Groveland, Idaho then moved to Rose where she graduated from the 8th grade. The family then moved to Blackfoot where she graduated from High School, while also working at the Telephone Office as an operator. She married her 8th grade classmate Joseph Petersen on May 21, 1949 after he returned from the Marines.

Leda passed away July 23, 2021 in a Salt Lake City hospital.

Leda will be greatly missed by her daughter, JoLynn (Robbie) Fackrell, her son, Michael Petersen, and a son-in-law, Robert Peterson; two sisters, Barbara Hansen, and Wanda Welsh; her grandchildren, Aliesha (Tim) Doxey, Heath (Leslie) Fackrell, Jodie (Chad) Stewart, Chance Fackrell, Rob Peterson and Brandon Petersen; and 9 great grandchildren, Desiree White, Hope (Ricky) Garreaud,Trista Fackrell, Connor Fackrell, Hailee Fackrell, Jess Rhet Payne, Shawnee Payne, Easton Petersen and Amara Rose Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Petersen; a daughter, Judy Peterson; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie (LaVere) Herbst; sister Lillie Hatley; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon (JoAnn) Farnworth; two brothers-in-law, Duane Hansen and Lee Welsh; a grandson, Jesse Beau Fackrell; and a granddaughter, Camie Jo Vigil.

Graveside services will be held 12 noon Friday, July 30, 2021 at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 S. Visitations will be held Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. Magna Main St.
