Leon F. Day
1930 ~ 2015
Leon Francis Day passed away April 9, 2015 at the home he loved. Born December 9, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Leonard F. and Thelma Larsen Day. He was raised in the Sugar House area and attended Forest Elementary, Bryant Jr. High, and West High schools. With a previous marriage he had four children, Craig (Angie), Corey (Mary Kay), Laura, and Shelly. He then married Shirley Snell Davis on November 17, 1972. Married for 42 years they had a great marriage and life together. He was the love of her life and she was his. He became a dad to four step children, Kim, Jody, Carrie (Jorge), and Bill (Laura).
After retiring from Kennecott Copper he worked for Granite School District where he loved his job as a bus driver. He also worked as a ski instructor at Alta. He loved to travel, ski, fish, hike, golf, and spending time at the cabin that he built. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents; half-sister, Della Avery; brother, Johnny; step daughters, Kim and Jody; and grandson, Clinton Udy. He is survived by his loving wife, 4 children, 2 step children, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon, with funeral services starting at 12 noon at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., Magna, UT. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
