LUCILLE BROWN
Our beloved mother, Lucille Brown, left this earth peaceably on Sat. Jan. 11, 2014, at Dixie Regional Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers. Lucille was born on Nov. 9, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to loving parents, Alf and Eva Anderson. She was the second of five children, being raised and schooled in the Salt Lake area. In 1959, four years after the death of her husband, Al Doty, she moved with her children to San Carlos, California, after transferring with her company Eitel McCullough. After several years she went to work for Hewlett Packard, where she stayed until retiring in 1987. Her final move came in 1989, purchasing her dream home in St. George, Utah. She loved her new home, and always looked forward to company. In 1996 she was introduced to a very handsome and dapper, Von Brown, marrying him a short time later. These last years of her life turned out to be some of her happiest and most content. She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where throughout her life she had the opportunity of holding many callings. She loved to dance, going as often as possible, she also loved to do crafts of all kinds. She was a beautiful seamstress, sewing matching dresses for her daughters and nieces as well matching dresses for all their dolls, as a Christmas surprise. She was a loving and devoted mother to three children; Robert Michael, Sedona, AZ; Teresa Gill (Richard) San Carlos, CA; and Linda Robinson, recently of St. George, UT, who remained her loving caregiver for the past 2 1/2 yrs. She was the adored grandma to four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
Throughout her life she met with insurmountable struggles that cultivated the love for others that would become her hallmark. She was a unifier and a gatherer, encircling everyone around her making them feel welcome and loved. Her refrigerator and cupboards were always stocked for whoever might knock at her door, feeding you whether you were hungry or not. The defining character of our mother would be the great love and devotion she showed to all, spending her entire life in the service of others. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Al Doty and Von Brown; parents Alf and Eva; and all four of her siblings, Gordon Anderson, Julia Sanders, Jeanine Hollingsworth and George Anderson.
"If our love could have saved you, you would have lived forever."
