Lon Preston Shields, age 70. Entered eternity on December 24, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Troy Shields and Joanna Fleeman Shields.

As a young boy growing up in Texas, to keep himself in spending money, he had an early morning paper route after which he would treat himself to a coke and donut at the local diner before heading off to school.
Later, Lon worked at his dad’s Sinclair gas station until going into the United States Marine Corps where he learned to work on military vehicles.
This took him into the mining industry starting out running and working on equipment and ending up as a Plant Maintenance Supervisor, finishing his career with Vulcan Materials.
Lon had a deep faith and loved his Lord Jesus. Couldn’t wait to see Him face to face. He loved the outdoors, mountains, working on projects and his many pets, most of all Lily, his little white Maltese; his constant retirement companion.
