Maurice Alton Miller

1936-2016

Our beloved Maurice passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on February 28, 2016. Maurice was born at home in Newton, Utah on August 9, 1936, to Conrad and Eva Miller. He is survived by his sweetheart of 62 years, Janet Miller, his sister, Kathryn (DWayne), and brothers, Chris (Linda), Ellis (Marcia), and sister in-law Kathy. His children are Steve (Davalee), Craig, Kori (Scott), Jon (Alysha), and Jane (Garry); plus his 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Betty Ann, Louise, Alfred, and Rex.

Maurice married Janet Jensen on February 12 ^th , 1954. He proudly served as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve 733d Military Airlift Squadron from 1954 – 1960.   Maurice loved gardening and his greenhouse. He created many projects in his wood shop, usually inspired by DWayne’s love of crafting beautiful things. He loved his riding lawn mower, camping, fishing, and hunting.  His favorite church calling was being Scoutmaster of Troop 664. Maurice began his career as a commercial and house painter in 1954. “Painter” was known for his “get it done” work ethic, honesty, and friendship to all over his 50 years in the trade. He was most happy when helping friends, family and neighbors. He was loved and respected by everyone that knew him and will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday March 3, 2016 at the Hunter 10 ^th Ward, 5000 W. Pavant Ave (3710 S.) West Valley City.
