1933 ~ 2013
Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Maxine Wilcox Nelson, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2013, in Brigham City, Utah. She was born January 8, 1933 in Boulder City, Nevada, to Cleon James and Reah Thorn Wilcox. She married Grant Wells Nelson on May, 27, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Maxine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served devotedly as Relief Society President (several times), Young Women President, Primary President, LDS Temple Ordinance worker and every other calling imaginable. She also served as a missionary with her sweetheart, Grant, in the Pennsylvania, Harrisville Mission. Maxine's entire life was lived loving & serving others. Her greatest joy came from her family and her love for them was felt in every conversation. Her positive outlook on life was contagious. She has left us with a wonderful legacy of love, faith, charity, & family. She loved reading, sewing, quilting, serving others, spending time at the family cabin, and hiking Mt Timpanogos. Maxine is survived by her children, Rea Ann (Bruce) Olsen, Craig (Rose) Nelson, Cory (Alyson) Nelson, Pamela (Aaron) Speirs, Randy (Susie) Nelson, Max (Kimberley) Nelson; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grand children; siblings, Dale Wilcox, Duane (Edna) Wilcox, Joyce (Stan) Palmer Hunt, Sharon Alexander, Laraine Huff, Keven (Erie) Wilcox. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Paul Timothy Nelson, sister-in-law, Bonnie Wilcox; brother-in-laws, Jonathan Palmer, and Edwin Huff. A special thank you to her wonderful caregivers at Country Lane Assisted Living, who so lovingly and kindly cared for our mother, (and all of us) and to the new friends we have there. Family is also grateful for AFI Hospice and the kind, gentle way they provided comfort and care. Thank you.
