"Smokey"

Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Michael "Smokey" Alan Korous passed away October 26, 2010 in West Valley City, Utah.  He was born January 5, 1942 in Murray, Utah to Edward Amos and Josephine Young Korous.  He married Susan Shafter June 15, 1962; later divorced.  Married Nikolene Isaksen Van Valkenburgh April 6, 1990.

Mike was a member of the LDS Church.  He retired as a driver for LeBus. He always showed unconditional love, made everyone feel welcome, and made everyone smile.  He truly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nikki; 12 children, Alan & Debbie Korous, Scott (Cindy) Korous, James (Kerry) Korous, Stephanie Brown, Steven (Jennifer) Korous, Cami Korous, Kirk Van Valkenburgh, Steven (Stacey) Van Valkenburgh, Jonnie (Rachel) Van Valkenburgh, rick (Charlotte) Van Valkenburgh, and David (Nicole) Van Valkenburgh; 40 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Meyberg; brother, Keith (Dotti) Korous; and 1 ^st wife, Susan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Pleasant Green Chapel, 8739 W. 3000 S., Magna, where friends and family may call Saturday 9:30-10:45 a.m.  Interment: Pleasant Green Cemetery.  Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
