Michael Steven Redd was born in Tucson, Arizona to Walter and Irene Meyer Posner on July 29, 1952. Irene married Z. Kent Redd in 1954 and they settled in Blanding, Utah. Mike had five siblings, Joan Marie, Lynn Kent, Russell Lee, Jayne Ruth, and David Redd. 

Mike attended Blanding Elementary, San Juan Jr. High and San Juan High School. He enjoyed all sports, but wrestling was his favorite. Mike played saxophone in the band and participated in the Drama Department. 

After graduating in 1971, he served a mission to the Northern States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After his mission, Mike completed his Associate of Science in Electronics as well as the credentials to become an Electrical Engineer at Utah Technical College. In 1976 he began his career working for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was an engineer for the Salt Lake Temple. Mike then worked with the Audio-Visual department and was able to travel to work on temples around the globe. He served 36 years as an engineer in the Jordon River Temple. Mike worked for the Church for thirty-nine years. 

On October 27, 1977, he married Shannon Elliott in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children;l, Steven Michael, Nathan Elliott, Pamela Ruth and a daughter who they lost. 

One of Mike’s passions was the Boy Scouts of America. He took great pride in receiving the Silver Beaver Award as well as the Wood Badge Beads Award. Two of the highest awards in the Scouting Program. 

Mike and Shannon loved gardening and raising bees. You could always count on them to do their best in whatever needed to be done. 

In 2021, they served a one-year mission int the Utah, Salt Lake City Area – Salt Lake Inner City Mission in the Kearns 10th Ward. Mike was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all his life and had a strong testimony. 

In 2023, Mike was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He fought the good fight but succumbed to this wicked disease on November 18, 2024, where he left this world surrounded by family. 

Michael S. Redd will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a good man, faithful husband, loving father, and a caring brother. 

He is survived by his wife, Shannon; children, Steven (Ginny), Nathan (Misty) and Pam (Bobby Gittin); five grandchildren, Reanna, Kendra, Gage, Slade, Konnor; great grandson, Karson, siblings, Joan, Lynn (Gail), Russell (Tracy) Jayne (Jason), David (Tammy). He has many nephews and nieces that will miss his sense of humor, his wisdom, and the barbeques in his backyard.

Services for Michael Steven Redd will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on November 22, 2024. 3665 S 6000 W West Valley, Utah. Viewing: 9:00a.m. – 10:45a.m. Services: 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Blanding, Utah. Graveside service; November 23, 10:00 a.m.
