PAUL JOSEPH FRATTO
Our beloved brother, Paul J. Fratto, 56, passed away August 18, 2013 due to complications from an overdose. He had struggled off and on with the terrible disease of depression the last six years of his life. Paul was born November 3, 1956 to Charles Frank Fratto and Catherine Sirianni Fratto. He graduated from Cyprus High in 1975 and married Mary Battaglia Fratto in October of 1981. Together they raised two amazing men, Tyson Fratto and Chad Fratto both of Tampa, Florida. Paul and Mary divorced after 28 years of marriage. The majority of Paul's life was lived in Tampa, Florida. He was a wall-covering sales rep. and loved his travel during the week and the opportunity to visit and call on customers and then arrive home on Friday evening to spend with his sons and wife for pizza and a movie. Paul enjoyed volunteering, as a special needs baseball coach for his son, Tyson when he was young and continued to do so even when Tyson was no longer able to play. He loved to play tennis with his son, Chad and anyone who ever played tennis with Paul knew he had a very unconventional game that enabled him to win many matches. Paul moved back to Utah over three years ago. He changed his career path and became a caregiver. He loved his clients and his job. He took a personal and caring interest in each of them. Paul's quirky sense of humor and honesty made him endearing to everyone who knew him. Paul always wanted to show his appreciation for any kindness shown to him by bringing flowers, candy, or his favorite: popcorn made with olive oil and lots of salt. Paul was very grateful for the many friendships he re-connected with when he moved back to Salt Lake and the new friendships he gained. We know you were all a source of happiness and companionship for him. Especially the never-ending support and friendship from his childhood friend, Bill to his entertaining and reminiscing visits he would have with Dawnie, his special friends Jamie, Nada and Carolee and his co-workers. The special bond Paul had with his dog, Kimbo gave him comfort, love and affection. Paul is survived by his sons, Tyson and Chad; his brothers, Teach (Pat) Fratto, Frank (Lisette) Fratto, Patrick (Kim) Fratto; sisters, Mary Fratto and JoLyn (Jerry) Fratto-Oyler; sister-in-law, Lynn Keating Fratto; and his very special cousins, Tina and Sam Sirianni Lewis. Paul's many nephews, nieces and cousins all were drawn to Paul and loved to be with him. We are grateful they were able to share their lives with him and to know the wonderful caring man we greatly loved. His parents, Charlie and Kay; brother, Charlie; nephew, Ryan; and very special uncle, Carmen preceded Paul in death.
A prayer service was held on August 23, 2013 at Saints Peter and Paul. In lieu of flowers, a Trust has been opened with America First Credit Union for his son, Tyson.
Paul we know you are at peace and your soul is with our loved ones.
