Reva Nichols Ames
1933 ~ 2017
Reva Nichols Ames, age 83, died peacefully May 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. Reva was born July 11, 1933 in Bennion, Utah in her family home. She was the daughter of Rulon P. Nichols and Viola Beckstead. After Viola passed away, Rulon married Myrtle Maxfield who raised Reva from age 9. Reva married Spencer Orvil Ames on October 9, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Reva worked in the lunchroom at Cyprus High School when school lunch was still cooked on location. She retired in 1993. She loved to cook and made the best deep-fried scones around. She loved to sew, and made prom dresses for her daughters and was always asked to fix the holes and reattach the buttons that her many grandchildren wore out or lost. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She loved spending time with family at get-togethers such as barbeques, parades, camping, and holiday parties.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Shawn) Simons, Cheryl (Ted) Shaw, and Jolene (Gary) Nelson; siblings, Joyce Hill and Mary Ann (Leon) Orme; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years; parents and step-mother; brother, Blaine Rulon Nichols; step-brothers, Norman Ben Maxfield and Lewis Beckstead Maxfield; and an unnamed baby sister who died hours after birth.
