Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend Richard Oliver Kerr, has rested from his labors and gone to his eternal home. Richard (best known as Rick), was born on March 21, 1950, to Justin Andrew and Sarah (Lewis) Kerr, in Tooele Utah. He was the oldest of 4 and a part of the “baby boom” generation. Rick grew up in Tooele County and Magna, Utah where he attended Cyprus High School. Magna has always been his stomping ground.
Richard married the first love of his life Susan Eileen Rardin on August 12, 1971. Together they had 2 daughters, Stephanie Andrea Kerr and his adopted daughter Carrie Anne Kerr. He absolutely adored his girls and was a proud dad to say the least. He and Sue later divorced.
Rick was employed at Hercules Aerospace in Magna, Utah for many years. He later became a professional truck driver, where he was employed at several firms. Rick had many loves in his life. He LOVED CARS, especially hot rods, and sports cars. Whether he was in his Monte Carlo, Mustang, or Corvette, he loved to take people for a ride and would show off with a big grin on his face. He LOVED flying his remote-controlled helicopters and always had some kind of toy he was collecting. He LOVED FOOTBALL and was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, and yes, he was praying for a Super Bowl 3-peat this year. Last but not least HE LOVED MUSIC. Rick was a self-taught musician and like many of his peers was a devoted music aficionado. He enjoyed the music of the great bands who dominated the period. Rick played several instruments; both the guitar and keyboards, and he often performed at the Magna Senior Center, the Magna Library as well as other venues. His bandmates and fans are going to miss him.
Rick is survived by his daughters, Stephanie and Carrie; grandchildren, Caleb J. Sirles; great-grandson, Dominick Sirles; brother, Glen Kerr; sisters, Debra Enriques and Lu Galpin; and his ex-wife, Susan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Sarah Kerr; his beloved niece, Elizebeth Manzanares-Wilde; and great-nephew, Cody Sabey.
A celebration of his life will be held In Rick's honor on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at the Jerald H. Miller Senior Senior Apartments in the Dining Room, 8923 West 2700 South Magna, Utah 84044. Lunch will be served…
