Robert Bryan Groves

1958 – 2025

Magna, Utah

Robert Bryan Groves passed away unexpectedly due to health complications on the morning of April 2, 2025, while on his way to work. He was 66 years old.

Robert was born on June 29, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Bryan Groves and LeAnn Roberts. He was raised in Taylorsville, Utah, surrounded by family, friends, and cousins. He graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1976 and soon after served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oregon from 1977 to 1979.

On November 28, 1979, Robert married the love of his life, Julie Izabel Garside, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together, they built a loving home in Magna, Utah, where they raised four children. Following in his father’s footsteps, Robert dedicated his career to the craft of cabinetry.

Robert was a man whose priorities were clear to all who knew him: family, God, and this great country of America. He was known for his fun-loving spirit, kind heart, and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed making people laugh and was always eager to share his life experiences, especially the story of how he lost his eye—an event that ultimately strengthened his faith.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping, particularly in Beaver, Utah. Robert was deeply involved in his community and church, serving in many roles including in the Bishopric, as an Elder’s Quorum President, and in the Boy Scouts of America. He was famous for performing skits with youth groups and scouts and took great joy in mentoring and entertaining.

His work brought him not only satisfaction but also the flexibility to proudly attend every one of his children’s—and later, his grandchildren’s—recitals, sports games, plays, and school events. Even as his physical health declined in recent years, Robert remained steadfast in his faith and never missed a moment with his grandkids.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Julie; his children: Rory (Julia) Groves, Skyler (Catherine) Groves, Cortney (Nicole) Groves, and Alexis (Paul) Brennan; and his 13 cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, LeAnn Groves, and his siblings: Stacie (Fred) Ninow, Suzie (Shannon) Sorenson, David (Michelle) Groves, and Stephanie (David) Tueller.

He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, William Bryan Groves, with whom he is now joyfully reunited—along with his right eye.
