Ronald Keith Thurman

Ronald Keith Thurman returned to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 15, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Rhea Smith Thurman, whom he married on July 22, 1954, and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1958. Born April 19, 1936 in Garfield, Utah, "Ronnie" was always a Magna Boy at heart. He loved to jump on his bike as a kid and go anywhere he wanted to go, he often met up with his friends at Magna Park. Ron was a natural athlete, playing on the Varsity Basketball, Baseball and Football teams for Cyprus High School, his trophies still rest in the trophy case near the gym.

Ron went on to play for the Westminster College Football team until Him and Rhea's family started to grow. Together they had five children for whom he built a family home with his Dad's help. He spent his free time coaching little league and church teams that his sons played on, singing barber shop for the Beehive Statesmen and could often be found welding in his shop. Ron was a hard worker, starting out working in the Power House office for Kennecott Copper Company, he then worked as a milkman for Winder Dairy. He retired as a Master Welder for Weir Pumps.

Ron was a quiet man, but a spiritual giant who surrounded his family with love, faith, church, tradition and an example of what a Husband and Father should be. He held many church callings, but his favorite was serving as 2nd Councilor in the Singles Ward. He is preceded in death by his Parents, (Douglas L Thurman and Pearl Jones Thurman), Sisters (Pat Thurman, Ruth Wright and Lois Welcker), Brother (Gus Thurman), Daughter (Terrie Lynn Thurman) and Grand Daughter (Aubrhea Sue Lopez). He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, 2 sons and 3 daughters, Rhonda Lopez (Steve), Jeff Thurman (Kay), Rick Thurman (Dorothy) , Colleen Craig (Jason) and Jennifer Clark (Robert), 23 Grandchildren and 42 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday June 21, 2014 at the Saratoga Springs 1 st Ward, 587 S Saratoga Springs Rd., Saratoga Springs.
