RUSSELL GARY WORKMAN

Russell Gary "Punkie" Workman - born June 6, 1942 and died August 24, 2013 at the age of 71. Russell was such a unique person that words cannot do justice in describing his life. He was afflicted with Cerebral Palsy at birth and was left deaf and mute his entire life. These afflictions did not deter him from living a happy and full life. The loving care given him by his father, mother, sisters, and extended family made his journey easier. Everyone who knew him was blessed to witness his achievement made possible by his brilliant mind. He was entirely self-taught as he learned to read and communicate thru his computer and finally thru the internet. He spent countless hours on his telescope teaching his nieces and nephews about the stars. In addition to astrology, his passions included Jazz basketball, board games, internet card games (statistics for free-cell solitaire was 10,000 wins 4 losses), research thru books and internet.

He loved going on elk and deer hunts with his sisters and their families and friends and even though he wasn't able to physically hunt he was a great spotter and could see elk no-one else could see with the naked eye. He was a truly amazing man who exceeded his life expectancy by 41 years. The family wants to thank Canyon Rim Care Center for the past 20 years of loving care and friendship. A special thanks to Steiner Gruber for all his special care over many years. We would also like to thank Brett Gardner and his family for all the visits and special attention they gave to him. Goodbye Punkie - it is comforting to know that you are walking, running, talking, hearing after 71 years of silence. We are sure you have a lot to finally say. We love you and miss you already. There is a new bright star in the heavens. Preceded in death by his father, Thomas Workman and his mother, Anita Workman. Survived by his sisters, Charmaine (Bill) Denton, Sylvia Gardner, and Carolee Keintz; as well as his aunt, Joy and many

nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a graveside service at the Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 S. on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the home of Brett Gardner, 4262 S 4850 W, West Valley City.
