1959 ~ 2016

Sandra Lee Bailey, 57, returned to her heavenly home on August 3rd, 2016 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Sandra was born to Virgil J. Thorne and Evelyn Faye Peck on April 3rd, 1959 in Salt Lake City, UT. Sandra graduated from Granger High School and attended the University of Utah. The summer before starting at the U she met her eternal companion, Crestin Stay Bailey on a blind date. Crestin and Sandra were sealed for time and all eternity on August 4th, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple. Family was always important to Sandra and she became the most amazing mother to 10 children and grandmother to 14 to this date.

Sandra is known for her kindness, love, optimism for life, and contagious smile and laugh. She loved everyone unconditionally and touched the lives of many. Sandra served for many years in the LDS church teaching countless numbers of primary children and visiting her sisters in the gospel. She also worked diligently as a teacher’s aide for Head Start where her kindness and dedication blessed the lives of many young children. Sandra loved being surrounded by her family and had the special gift of having a unique relationship with all of her children, grandchildren, and friends. She loved with all of her heart and her life is a symbol of the good a righteous woman can do through service. As the daughter of a great scouter she worked diligently to help her 7 sons receive their Eagle Scout awards. Her dedication to her faith and family has spread the globe through her son’s missions and mi litary service and has touched the lives of many in South America, Spain, Chicago, New York, Australia, and will live on through her legacy of service and love.

Sandra is survived by her sister Vickie, her brothers Ron, Bill, Richard, Mark, Wayne, and Dale. As well as her husband Crestin Bailey and their children Janine, Jamie & River Digerness, Jeremy & Selva, Johnathan, Jason & Lacey, Jarad & Elizabeth, James & Sarah, Julie, Jeffrey & Samantha, and Jackson. Her grandkids; Joseph, Joshua, Jon, Jacob, Jasper, Evelyn, Nico, Lara, Lucy, Zoie, Troy, Zariah, Devin, Cameron, and her very protective dog, Buddy. She is preceded in death by her loving parents Virgil and Evelyn Thorne.

Funeral services will be held at the Granger East Stake Center located at 3276 S. Hillsdale Dr. West Valley City, UT 84119 at 11:00 am on August 10th, 2016. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow funeral services at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery located at 3115 East 7800 South Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
