Sherrie Lynn Ward

1966 - 2010

Our beloved daughter, cherished sister, loving aunt, niece and friend, Sherrie Lynn Ward passed away June 1, 2010 surrounded by her family, friends and staff from JST Group Home.

Sherrie was born October 3, 1966 to Terry Gubser and Sandra Adelia Bybee Ward.  She attended schools for three years in Magna, and the attended Hartvigsens School for the Handicapped for the remainder of her schooling.  Sherrie's handicaps were countered much by the loving and dedicated staff at Hartvigsens.  She made many friends and was loved by all.

She enjoyed singing and sang many times in assemblies, including solos.  She loved swimming, sports, Lagoon days, and participated in the musicals put on by the school.  These were happy years for Sherrie.

She was an active member of the Lake Ridge 3 ^rd Ward for many years.  She enjoyed her primary and Young Women's activities, and especially enjoyed the years she served as assistant nursery leader under Carol Williams.

While her life seemed to be going well, she suddenly deteriorated and there followed many stressful and stormy years for her and her family.  We were finally able to get her into the Neurobehavioral Clinic at U of U medical Center where she was diagnosed with acute Bi-Polar depression.  Thanks for the dedication, patience, and caring of the doctors and nurses there, Sherrie became stable enough to move into JST Group Home and returned to work.  We are so grateful for Alicia Sorenson and all who have worked with her in this experience.

We express our heartfelt thanks to all who have loved Sherrie.  She truly has been blessed to be surrounded by many choice people through the years of her life.

Sherrie is preceded in death by an infant sister; grandparents, Frederick J. and Esther Gubser Ward, and Levi Marion and Ella Riding Bybee.

Sherrie is survived by her parents; sisters, Christine (Paul) Russell and their children, Paul I. (Maria), Sarah, Christian, Hannah, and Eliza, Leslie (John) Holmgren and their children, Jonathan, Spencer, Hannah, Joshua, Heidi, Sadie, and Lilly, Wendy (Tom) Gale and their children, James, Kenyon, Joseph, Rachel, Mathew, and Timothy, and Jennifer Mary (Doug) Kenner and their children, Whitney, Rachel, and Emily; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

We are so grateful for the time we shared with her.  She will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Lake Ridge 9 ^th Ward, 7825 W. Sharon Dr. (3340 S.), where friends and family may call Tuesday 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.  Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.  Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
