Sokun Sim

Sokun Sim, 84, passed away on August 29th, 2024, in West Valley City, UT. She was born on November 10th, 1940, in Battambang, Cambodia to parents Song Sim and Mao Loeum. Sokun was married to Satta Ou on November 01, 1978 also in Battambang, Cambodia. 

Although born in Cambodia, Sokun escaped the Khmer Rouge war and has lived most of her life in Utah. She enjoyed traveling with her kids when she could around the United States, and back a few times to Cambodia to visit her kids that still reside there along with her grandkids and great grandkids. She was very involved in the Buddhist Cambodian Temple and enjoyed being around her friends and family the most and being a housewife. 

She is survived by her 5 children, many grandkids and great grandkids in both Cambodia and Utah. Her warm smile and genuine kindness endeared her to everyone she was around. Sokun will be greatly and deeply missed by all who knew her. We take comfort and peace knowing that Sokun is now reunited in heaven with one of her sons. 

Funeral Services will be held on September 7th, 2024 at Peel Funeral Home in Magna, UT located at 8525 W. Magna Main St., Magna, UT. Viewing services will be from 11:30AM-1:30PM and her burial will take place the same day from 2:00PM-3:30PM in the Pleasant Green Cemetery. 

On Sunday, September 8th, 2024, we will be ending her services at the Wat Buddikaram (Wat Khmer) from 8:00AM-1:00PM located on 3325 W. 3500 S., West Valley City UT.
